Engineering Evaluation:Since it’s less dense than maple, birch tends to influence sound by balancing out some of the high-end attack that’s most commonly associated with maple. The toms have great tuning range, and the kicks sound very large. Maple has a more attractive grain pattern than birch, so our birch drums feature a thin exterior ply of maple for cosmetic purposes.
